No Longer a Hole Cover Up
Backplates have often been referred to as a blemish or hole cover-up but not anymore! Hardware today is all about more surface area, bolder design and details that are show stopping. It used to be a vintage design trend but now backplates have entered the modern era with its cutouts, steps and simple design forms.
It still is used to cover up holes which is great if you had a knob previously and want to change to a handle (or lengthening your handle) without doing patchwork.
Framed in Style
Backplates are a great way to frame your hardware which will make your simple knobs and handles stand out. It is also used to add a special backdrop. Think of it as hanging a picture on a wall. The picture is the main attraction but the frame is also very important. Same with backplates!

Mixing Metals
In bathrooms and kitchens, mixing metals and materials are very common. Backplates are great for tying elements together for a more harmonious look.
