Is your cabinet hardware ADA compliant?
When it comes to ADA compliance, there are currently no official governing rules for cabinet hardware. However, companies have to keep accessibility and ergonomics in mind when designing and manufacturing. Amerock has put together a special list that identify those products that align with the ADA Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG).
Here are some general rules that do NOT qualify as ADA compliant cabinet hardware.

- Pulls with overhangs tend to snag loose clothing.
- Pulls with less than 12/16in (20mm) inner projection are not easy to use for bigger fingers or for someone with poor perception.
- Pulls with less than 3.2in (81mm) inner length are also not easy to use for bigger fingers or for someone with poor perception.
- Cup pulls, edge pulls, finger pulls and pendants are all more difficult to grab for someone who has neuropathy in their fingers.
Keep these guidelines in mind when picking out hardware. If you are still unsure, you can always reach out before purchasing and ask us if we feel the product chosen follows these suggested guidelines or not.
